Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters We have now come to the end of our visit to Nepal for this year, it has been a very successful visit this time with the new school now being built in Okhaldhunga, also with the hot water system which has now been installed at the rainbow children's home in Pokhara and a trip to the Tibetan old peoples settlement camp,
As I mentioned in our last news letter about there was one last project we need to do for the people in the village of Okhaldhunga
The daily life for these people in the village is very hard, as there is nothing and that means nothing in the village they are only self sufficient, they grow there own produce, breed there own animals for work and food, there is no electric power, no roads from other villages, no shops, literally nothing,
On April the 25 th 2015 they where hit by a very big earthquake with a reading of 7.8 on the Richter scale which killed about 9000 people across Nepal and injured almost 22,000 people
Since then they have been trying to come to terms asking themselves why them, we are poor enough we didn't need this, we are a third world country and we have nothing,
So since we arrived in the village we sat listening and looking at the devastation to their heritage, schools, houses, etc these people with houses that are not supposed to be lived in because of the badly cracked structures have no other options, plastic sheet is their only last option and who would like that,
So we have now set up a fund that will help the villagers move on in life, we have called it the Dumkhim Welfare Society, there will be seven members on the committee which are the chairman, vice chairman, secretary, treasurer, media secretary, with Bob and Jenny being trustees, all these people have served in British and Nepalese army, one Ghurkas from the Ghurkas regiment Captain Nanibabu Magar,  and security guard and shop owner, This has now been drawn up by a solicitor.
The aim of this project is to get the villagers back on their feet, with a welfare bank account now set up, people can borrow money from the welfare interest free, they will have to become a member at a fee of £1 per month, this will entitle them to borrow money and get their houses repaired,
Also to have medical treatment they can't afford right now like eye treatment, hospital treatment, dental treatment, etc ,
The orphanage fund will start the account off with some money to get things started,
We would like to thank all of our supporters for making this possible.
Kindest regards,
Bob and Jenny
